No love story in Salman Khan's 'Tubelight

Salman Khan is currently busy shooting in Manali for Tubelight. And we hear that the Manali schedule will run upto October end.

While all we knew about the film was that it's based at the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China War, there were also strong murmurs about Chinese actress Zhu Zhu being Salman's love interest in the film.
But now Pritam has revealed that there is no romance in the film. Yes, he told a leading daily, "Kabir Khan is a friend and it’s always fun to work with him. The one compliant that I have about Kabir is that he doesn’t make love stories. Since Tubelight has no love angle, there are no love songs. Even Bajrangi hardly had any love angle.

Why There's No Salman Khan in Brother Sohail's Freaky Ali

Salman Khan

Sohail Khan has directed big brother Salman Khan in four films, the last being Jai Ho in 2014 - film that fetched him almost 200 crores at the domestic box office. So why did he not think of Salman Khan in the lead when he decided on Freaky Ali?The reason behind this is simple. Freaky Ali is a simple film and Salman Khan is a larger than life star," he said.

Now, there's no disputing the fact that Salman is a larger than life star. But if one looks at his choice of films recently, Khan has excelled in roles where he isn't required to bash the bad guys. Both Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan have fared excellently with both critics and the masses, and both these films had Salman play the underdog. The reason perhaps, lies elsewhere and Sohail soon pointed us in that direction.

"A big film takes anywhere between 6 months to a year to reach the silver screen. We shot Freaky Ali in 45 days straight," said Sohail.

The larger than life status of Salman Khan and his films can be measured by the fact that Tubelight will release in Eid 2017. The film's director Kabir Khan has been in pre-production since the release of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and the film has only just completed its first schedule in Ladakh.

For the Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty launch-pad Hero, Salman had at, at least, lent his voice to the film's title track. For Freaky Ali Sohail decided against using Khan at all.

"I didn't want Salman to take the attention away from the film. So we have only used the Salman Khan banner and the rest is all about the film and its lovable characters," he said.

Tiger Zinda Hai: Katrina Kaif to star opposite Salman Khan?

Since her break-up from beau Ranbir Kapoor, speculation was rife that Katrina Kaif will team up with Salman Khan. It was reported that she might be part of many films that Salman is committed to, like Kabir Khan’s Tubelight, Raj Kumar Santoshi’s next, and even an untitled next that Tarun Mansukhani is helming for Salman Khan Films.
But according to highly placed sources, the duo will come together for Salman-starrer, Tiger Zinda Hai. There are many reason why Kat will be cast in the film. For starters, it is a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, which she was part of and the romance of lead characters Tiger and Zoya has to continue in the sequel. Director Ali Abbas Zafar, is a friend of the actress and rooted for her, Salman had promised to work with the actress, given the right script and she is Zoya, so she has to be in the sequel. And last but not the least, the film is being produced by Aditya Chopra, who is her ally.
Says an insider, “When the casting for the lead actress was on, Ali brought up Kat’s name. He has spoken about wanting to work with Katrina again, in many interviews. The actress and the director have a great liking for each other and she made an effort to go to Sultan’s special screening and success party on his invitation.” Katrina remained unavailable for comment.

Online film leaks: Offenders must be jailed, says Salman Khan

Superstar Salman Khan says strict action must be taken against those who leak films online.
Recently, films like “Udta Punjab”, “Great Grand Masti” and Salman-starrer “Sultan” were leaked online before their official release.
“It’s disgusting that films are getting leaked online before release. These people are nothing less than thieves as they make money in the name of other person’s hard work. It (piracy) is the worst profession, Salman said in an interview.
“Someone suggested you should put TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act) on people who buy and sell it (pirated DVD). As we pay tax and Maharashtra has the heaviest tax, something should be done. When two people will go to prison, others will stop it. It (piracy) doesn’t happen in South,” he said.
One of the reasons often cited for piracy are huge ticket prices. The 50-year-old “Dabangg” star, however, feels that ticket prices reduce after the weekend and there are single screen theatres as well where the prices are not much high.
“What about watching the film after the weekend that is Monday onwards. There are single screens as well. Even I feel the ticket prices are high but if you look at the infrastructure, the cost of real estate then you will understand that if they (multiplexes) don’t charge that much, then the theatre will close down,” he said.
Salman will be seen next in Kabir Khan’s “Tubelight”.
