From Rimi Sen's honesty to Salman Khan's 'bhaijaan' mode: Why Bigg Boss Season 9 is the best so far

Chances are, by now you've made your observations about the Bigg Boss season 9. The same contestants who were fresh faces to us are now slowly becoming familiar. The cherry on the cake is always the weekend sessions with Salman Khan, and Sunday night's episode was no less, providing some more insight into the inner workings of the Bigg Boss house.
“ You are so weak, Rimi.”
Salman Khan gently admonished the sobbing, heavily Bong accented film actress whose only memorable roles have been a brief appearance opposite Abhishek Bachchan inDhoom, 2004 and Dhoom 2,2006. She now appears on your TV channels everyday. Sen has claimed that she is done with her time in the house.
If you remember the sweet and talented Rimi Sen who was noticed but never made quite the cut as a big time heroine and if you are a fan, it would be probably be heartbreaking for you to watch her weep like a child on Sunday's episode of Big BossSeason 9.

Clearly the host was equally touched. Sen kept pleading she wanted to be out of the Big Boss house, but Salman reminded her to be who she always was, at the worst of times on a film set which didn’t make her happy. Bhaijaan, indeed.
"Mujhe bacha lo,” she begged to Khan. Big Boss house was a jail to her. But since the fans refused to vote her out, Khan insisted she get stronger and play the game wholeheartedly. Did she mistake the place for a plush resort, he joked, when she told him he was her last resort? Okay, not that funny but apparently cheery enough to bring a smile back on Sen’s bright red lipsticked face.
Their conversation highlighted two very interesting things: the definition of success and the other contestants’ inner strength. These are themes that mold almost every episode inside the Bigg Boss house.
Sen told Khan that she had never craved too much success in her film career as she preferred her own comfort zone. Khan pointed out how everyone else was staying put and were equally uncomfortable.
This raises a very vital question of what success means in today’s world of easy fame and money. Is it about mere talent or is it about your willingness to change your basic personality in order to get out of the so called “comfort zone”?
Sen comes across as a quiet introvert who likes to keep to herself. She is not as aggressive or gregarious like the rest who participate fully in every task given to them in the show. Yes, she may not be given to being cooperative in certain tasks either but she had good reason. She refused to shave her head or tattoo her arm with “Big Boss” name in big bold letters.
She dared to make those choices despite being fully aware that it may make her unpopular inside and outside the house. She gives a clear opinion when it is sought but does not try to get louder in order to be heard over and above others. The best thing about her is that she is not an attention-seeking actress and has a mind of her own.
Sen wants out. Does that make her a loser or “weak” as Salman says?
Or will she be what Khan says to the next in line of firing, Digangana Suryavanshi ---“I want to see you come out a winner.”
Going by the smile on Sen’s tear soaked face, she is ready to create a new comfort zone and stay herself; which is honest and human. Meanwhile, Khan is going great guns at his new dabangg role—that of a motivating Bhaijaan.
Winner or loser, it all amounts to one thing. You are the boss of yourself. This season of Big Boss looks quite promising as the best so far.

Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor take us back to 90s in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo's title track

Screengrab from YouTube

One might mistake it for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, but it's actually the title track from Salman Khan-Sooraj Bharjatya's reunion projectPrem Ratan Dhan Payo.
The song features Sonam Kapoor, looking every bit in character as a princess, clad in a ghagra-choli with ghoongat and Salman Khan in his royal avatar. The couple seem to be in their courtship period are seen bonding through song-and-dance. We see glimpses of other characters like Swara Bhaskar and Neil Nitin Mukesh as well.
The beats and choreography are both traditional overall very reminiscent of the lavish family naach-gaana sequences of previous Salman-Bharjatya ventures Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saath Hain, albeit in a regal set up. If you thought Prem was the only thing returning, think again, the 90s dance style seems to be returning as well.
The song is sung by Palak Muchhal to the music of Himesh Reshammiya and the lyrics are my Irshad Kamil. It was released on Twitter by Salman Khan with a a profound message that said, "Sab ko prem ratan prapt hona chahiye." (Everyone should be able to obtain the jewel of love).

Sultan first look: Muscled, mustached Salman Khan looks refreshingly intense

After Aamir Khan's 'wrestling pit' look from his upcoming film Dangal, it's time for the first look of another wrestling piece from another Khan.
Salman Khan's first look from his upcoming Yash Raj Film's action drama Sultan has been unveiled and it shows 'Bhai' in a super intense avatar.

The 49-year-old star, who is currently training for the movie, shared the photograph on Twitter. The photo has been taken during on training, said the tweet.
The photo shows a bulked-up Salman sporting a mustache, stubble and cropped hair as he stares in to the camera. "Wrestling is not a sport. It is about fighting what lies within," says the text on the image.
While we cannot base much on one look from the film, we have to admit that a bearded, glaring Salman looks refreshing after all his clean-shaven, goody-two-shoes roles of late.
If the intensity of the image is anything to go by, the film will show him in a very different avatar.
Salman stars as wrestler from Haryana, Kesari Sultan, in the movie, to be directed by Ali Abbas Zafar of Gunday fame. Zafar shared the photograph as well saying, 'the look says it all.'
The movie is set to clash on 8 July, 2016, where it will clash with Shah Rukh Khan's Raees. Looks like there is going to be a lot of 'fighting' between the Khans and their roles at the Box Office.

Salman Khan's predictably grand entry in 'Prem Leela' from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

There's a famous song sequence in every Sooraj Barjatya film; one in which the whole extended family gets together to sing, dance and celebrate their togetherness.
You'd think that's pretty much the plot of any Barjatya film, but this special song/scene is marked usually by loud, garish clothes, lots of flowers, a stage and the entireparivaar. (The scene before Maiye Ni Maiye in Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Sunoji Dulhanfrom Hum Hum Saath Hai, to name a few)
Prem-leela-380-screengrab
Salman Khan in a screen grab from the trailer.
In Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, the family celebratory song marks Salman Khan's arrival in the film. Now from Hud Hud Dabang to Selfie Le le re, we all know Salman always has an entry song in his more recent films.
So when you fuse the two together, you get Prem Leela: Salman's introductory song in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and the family celebration song as well. It's only the cherry on the cake that the song has been picturised during Ram Leela celebrations as well.
In Prem Leela, there's an overt display of love towards family, snippets of Sonam Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra and other actors in the film, but predominantly Salman Khan in every frame. The song itself could be any Salman Khan song. It has the characteristic dance beat, some whistles thrown in here and there, and Bhai's famously incoherent choreography.
All in all, Prem Leela is mad fun (if you don't take it too seriously). Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will release on 12 November.

The Big Khan Fallout: What went wrong between Salman Khan and Aamir Khan?

Salman-Aamir

Aamir Khan and Salman Khan have always maintained that they share a great bond with each other. Not anymore. The long standing friendship between the two Khans have gone kaput. Reason? A series of events have caused this fallout. After Salman and Shah Rukh had a terrible feud a few years back, it was Aamir who became Salman's closest confidante. But now, everything has gone down the drain as the two actors recently had a heated argument which left Aamir in tears and Salman in a state of fury.
So for all those who have no clue about how it started, here's the detailed explanation of how matters went from bad to worse between the two once-upon-a-time great friends.
Salman and Aamir's friendship started having the first cracks when Salman signed on for YRF's Sultan. Why? Aamir was already prepping up to play a wrestler in Dangal and Sultantoo will have Salman playing the role of a wrestler. Seeing the similarities in theme and context, what left Aamir paranoid was that YRF, despite planning the film much later, announced that Sultan will hit theatres next year Eid while Aamir's Dangal will only release around Christmas, which is six months after Sultan releases worldwide. Now, given that the entire backdrop and the core theme will become repetitive, Aamir feared losing out on his audiences. An insecure Aamir even tried calling good friend Aditya Chopra and requested him to shift his shooting locations, which turned out to be exactly the same areas in which he's camping for the Nitesh Tiwary directorial. Nothing helped and Salman is all set to begin shooting in the same locales this November. But Aamir being Aamir, decided to reveal the first look poster just a day after he started shooting.

The 2 minute and 8 second trailer begins with the sepia toned image of a pair of hands pressed together in Anjali Mudra (namaste) gesture, honoring a picture of a father and his four children, smiling happily together, with the sweet, soulful voice of Palak Muchhal singing the movie’s title track. A fluid sequence of slo-mo shots reveals a series of celebrations both contemporary and ancient, with top-notch camera, set design, costumes, choreography and editing on display. All of this leads to a grinning Salman Khan, arms spread wide in an SRK-style gesture of welcome, intoning in voiceover the words “Main waapis aa gaya hoon… Main waapis aa gaya hoon” (“I’m back..
